What is Batomon Showdown?

A pixel-art banger that trades stressful live lobbies for the pure joy of building broken monster synergies.

Imagine if you could combine the creature-collecting obsession of Pokemon with the strategic chaos of a modern autobattler. Batomon Showdown lets you build a team of six monsters and fight other players' boards at your own pace without any stressful live timers.

Gameplay

You're basically mixing Pokemon with Super Auto Pets here. You pick a trainer, grab your Batomon, and build a team of six to fight 'ghost' boards of other players. It's asynchronous PvP, so you don't have to deal with stressful timers or waiting for some guy to take ten minutes to move a unit. You just build, hit battle, and see if your strategy holds up. It's way more chill than TFT because it's less about managing a gold economy and more about the rogue-like rush of finding a broken trinket or a deadly synergy.

The real hook is that you're actively trying to break the game. You train your Batomon to overpowered levels and hunt for combos that feel completely unfair. That dopamine hit of creating a game-breaking team is what keeps you coming back. However, it's not all smooth sailing. Since it's a newer indie title, you'll find some rough edges. You're doing a lot of guessing and checking because the UI lacks detailed DPS stats and a solid Codex to track evolutions. If you're a hardcore meta-chaser, that lack of info might drive you crazy.

At $14.99, it's a paid entry in a genre that's usually free-to-play. For most, it's a steal given how addicting the loop is, but you're paying for a specific indie experience. It runs great on Steam Deck, making it a perfect 'short burst' game. Just be prepared for the fact that balance patches happen, and something will always feel 'too strong' or oppressive—that's just the nature of this beast.

What Players Say

People are generally loving the jump from the demo to full release, with some calling it 'one of the best auto battlers' out there. Players who put 50 hours into the demo say the new sets are exciting and the price is a total steal. But it's not all praise; the biggest gripe is that the 'gamespeed is so slow' and people are begging for a faster battle speed and actual achievements to track their progress.

“Great autobattler. I played the Demo/early access for quite a while and have seen metas shift with balance patches. So yes, something will always feel "too strong" or oppressive, but that's the status…”

Grab this if you love creature collectors and want a low-stress, addictive strategy game. If you need precise data and deep stat screens to enjoy a game, you might want to wait for the UI to get more polish. 8/10.
