What is There Is No Lore?

A tight, no-nonsense auto-battler for people who prefer building a perfect machine over playing cards in real-time.

Stop looking for a plot and start looking for synergies. There Is No Lore is a stripped-back roguelite from Little Flea Studios that ditches the fluff to focus entirely on the cards. It's weird, direct, and honestly, it works.

Gameplay

You're not playing cards in real-time here; you're basically an architect of chaos. It's an auto-battler where you spend your energy building 'decks upon decks' and slotting in trinkets to outsmart your opponent. Once you've set your loadout, you just watch the fight unfold to win locations. It's a massive payoff for your brain-work, but that's also the catch. If you're looking for the high-action, turn-by-turn control of Slay the Spire, you won't find it. It's a tinkerer's game, and you might find yourself wishing you had more direct influence once the battle starts.

The depth comes from how you manipulate your build. You've got Story mode to unlock base decks and Draft mode if you just want to try and break the game from scratch. The meta-progression is steady, giving you a bigger toolbox of cards and trinkets as you go. It's got that 'just one more run' addiction you see in Balatro, but it feels more like a tactical puzzle than a gamble. At $17.99, it's a fair price for the loop, though the experience is definitely raw around the edges. It doesn't try to be an epic saga—it just wants to be a tight, satisfying mechanical loop.

Verdict

I'd give this a 7.5/10. Grab it if you love tactical puzzles and tinkering with builds, but skip it if you need a story or active combat to stay interested.
