What is Exploiters?

A budget-priced idle defense game with a satisfying loop that's currently held back by its unfinished Early Access state.

Imagine an autobattler stripped of the turns and shared pools, replaced by a colony-building idle loop. You'll fight endless zombie waves using automated defenses and a scaling economy in this indie experiment. It's a low-stress way to scratch that automation itch if you don't mind some rough edges.

Gameplay

If you're hunting for a tactical draft like TFT or Hearthstone Battlegrounds, look elsewhere. Exploiters is a different beast entirely. It's an idle zombie defense game where you build a colony and manage passive income to survive endless waves. You'll spend your time recruiting collectors and upgrading gear while your units fight in real-time. It's less about the meta and more about scaling your economy so you don't get overrun.

That said, it's rough. It's in Early Access with a wild 2026 release date, and it shows. You'll run into bugs and a UI that feels unpolished. Some systems are half-baked, making it feel more like a skeleton of a game than a finished product. At $2.99, it's a weird price point for an idle game that usually goes free, but it's cheap enough to gamble on if you like the 'numbers go up' loop. You'll find the biome exploration and resource efficiency satisfying, but don't expect a masterpiece. I'm giving it a 5/10 right now because while the core idea works, the execution is still very early.

Verdict

“So the one thing im not understanding, is where the defense comes in. Zombies just die when they reach you, there is no actual threat of losing. Its essentially a numbers go up game where you gain lev…”

Grab this if you love idle games and pixel art, but skip it if you want a polished, competitive experience. It's too shallow and buggy right now to recommend to anyone other than the most patient indie fans.
