Imagine a deckbuilder where the boss fight is the collapse of the Weimar Republic. You're leading the SPD in 1928, using a deck of policies and political plays to keep democracy alive. It's a high-stakes history lesson disguised as a strategy game.
Gameplay
Forget fighting monsters or stacking poker hands. In this one, you're running the Social Democratic Party of Germany in 1928, and your only goal is to stop the Nazis from seizing power. The core loop is a political simulation where you play cards to trigger government actions and party maneuvers. Instead of calculating damage, you're managing political alignment. You'll spend your turns deciding if you want to play it safe with the Center or take a massive gamble by forming a pact with the Communists to block the far right. It's got that same 'perfect engine' rush you get in Slay the Spire, but your engine is built out of legislation and diplomacy rather than fireballs.
Run variety is the strongest part of the experience. You can try one run as a moderate holding the middle and the next as a radical left-wing coalition, which completely shifts which cards you prioritize across over 70 historical and alternate events. There's no traditional meta-progression here—no stat boosts or unlocked gear—just your own growing knowledge of the mechanics and history. Since it's free to play, there's zero barrier to entry, but don't expect a polished spectacle. It's a lean, text-based 'story engine.' If you're looking for the flashy animations or juice of a game like Balatro, you'll be disappointed. It's a high-concept indie project with some rough edges, but it's 'riveting, riveting stuff' if you can get past the lack of visuals.
