Gameplay
Forget drafting units onto a grid like you do in TFT. In Slots & Skulls, your entire army is a slot machine. You spend your time loading the symbol pool with poisons, spells, and gold engines, then you spin to fight. Whatever lands on the reels is what attacks for you, and hitting a match across the reels multiplies the effect. It's a weird, addictive loop where gambling is the actual combat mechanic.
Between fights, you take your loot to the anvil to upgrade your gear. This is where the game gets tense. The anvil is another gamble; you might seriously power up your build, or you might lose your favorite symbols forever. It's less about precise positioning and more about 'reel-building' to create broken synergies. It definitely feels like a blend of Luck be a Landlord and a turn-based roguelike.
Since this is a demo, it's pretty lean. It's a 'Steam Deck-first' project, so it feels a bit rough around the edges. You'll have runs where you feel like a god and others where the RNG just hates you. Because it's so luck-heavy, the balance isn't quite there yet, but the core hook of breaking a slot machine to kill monsters is strong enough to keep you spinning.
