First Impressions: FLASK Demo

A weird, blood-gold harvesting deck-builder that's janky but addictive.

Forget everything you know about clean, corporate autobattlers. FLASK lets you play as a greedy alchemist brewing grotesque meat-monsters to harvest blood gold in a grim, fever-dream world.

Gameplay

You play as a debt-ridden alchemist living in a mobile tower, and your only goal is to get bloody rich. Instead of the usual drafting you'll see in TFT, you're building flask-based decks to brew homunculi—basically grotesque meat-monsters—to fight hordes of mutated creeps. The loop is super addictive because it feels more like a deck-builder than a traditional autobattler. You'll spend your time tweaking your squad and hunting for set bonuses and companion mechanics that keep you from just picking the strongest unit every time.

It's got a heavy Slay the Spire vibe where you're constantly adjusting your build to survive the next wave. You'll barter with mutated merchants and harvest green blood gold to keep your operation running. The hand-drawn art style is a total fever dream and looks striking.

But you've gotta keep in mind this is a demo. It's definitely got some rough edges. You'll run into bugs and the combat can get chaotic, making it hard to tell exactly what's happening. It's a bit janky, but the core gameplay is rock solid and feels like a breath of fresh air compared to the corporate look of most modern autobattlers. If you can handle a few glitches, the potential here is huge.

Key Features

What Players Say

Players are mostly loving the vibe, with some calling it a 'big, big recommend' and comparing the eerie atmosphere to Inscryption. One dev from Necesse even jumped in to give it a thumbs up. However, it's not all praise; some players pointed out it's 'very buggy and rough around the edges in terms of readability', meaning you'll likely struggle to follow the action during fights.
