What is Wok the Deck?

A cozy, puzzle-heavy deckbuilder that swaps combat for kitchen optimization, offering a refreshing but shallow alternative to genre staples.

If you’re burnt out on fighting demons and space aliens, Wok the Deck is the perfect palate cleanser you didn’t know you needed. This quirky indie gem swaps combat for kitchen chaos, letting you optimize a menu instead of a kill list. It’s a weird little experiment that somehow just works.

Gameplay

Wok the Deck is a cozy restaurant roguelike where you’re not fighting monsters; you’re optimizing a menu to hit sales targets before your moves run out. You serve up sushi, hotpot, and BBQ, but the real magic happens in the deck-building loop. You recruit animal staff and pair them with utensils to create massive synergies. It’s less about combat and more about puzzle-solving your way through limited plays and discards. You’ll find yourself hunting for that one specific utensil to make your animal staff go nuclear, triggering chains that blow your targets out of the water. The game has a similar 'puzzle' energy to Slay the Spire, though it’s not quite as deep. You choose your route through shops and events, ensuring no two runs feel identical. It’s got that addictive 'just one more run' feel, even if the systems are simpler than the genre heavyweights.

Wok the Deck is worth your time if you want something light and experimental to break up the monotony of traditional deckbuilders. Skip it if you need deep, complex systems or polished AAA production values. At $7.99, it’s a fair price for a short, sweet, and surprisingly satisfying run.
