What is Undying Flame?
You've played a thousand tower defense games, but you've never had to manually feed the tower wood to keep it from dying. Undying Flame is a minimalist roguelite where your only goal is to keep a campfire burning while fighting off waves of monsters.

Gameplay
Imagine a tower defense game where you're actually the tower's bodyguard. You don't just place units and watch; you're in the thick of it, fighting hordes of creatures to keep a central campfire alive. There's no health bar here. Your only HP is the fire itself. If it goes out, you're done. You've gotta kill enemies, grab the wood they drop, and toss it back into the flames. It's a tense loop because you're constantly torn between attacking and fueling the fire.
It's way more active than something like Kingdom Rush. You're managing a build with 91 relics and 30 upgrades, evolving your flame from a basic fire into a Star and eventually the Void. The design is elegant—you actually have to watch the flame's color and listen to the crackle to know if you're winning or losing. It's a clean, focused experience that makes you want to dive back in for another run.
At $7.99, it's a paid title in a genre often flooded with free-to-play clones, but the lack of ads or microtransactions makes it a fair deal. However, the minimalism is a double-edged sword. The early game lacks variety and the difficulty spikes can be brutal. It's a tight mechanical loop, but it can feel a bit bare-bones if you're expecting a massive amount of content right out of the gate. Still, the progression from Fire to Void keeps you hooked.

Verdict
“Super fun rogue lite! Lots of different builds I can't wait to try out. I hope it comes to mobile one day”
“got so much work to do but I CAN'T STOP PLAYING THIS it's so good”
It's a solid 8/10 for anyone who loves a tight roguelite loop and doesn't mind a bit of a grind. Skip it if you need massive variety in the early game or hate brutal difficulty spikes, but otherwise, it's a refreshing break from the usual TD clones.
