What is Dicewayfarer?
If you're burnt out on traditional card games, you've gotta try Dicewayfarer. It's a wild ride that feels like a puzzle game and a deckbuilder had a baby, replacing your hand of cards with a strategic dice grid.

Gameplay
You're not drawing cards here; you're managing a 5x5 grid of 25 dice. Every run starts with a random mess on your board, and you've only got a few swaps to get things organized. The goal is to arrange your dice to trigger massive chained attacks. It's less about the luck of the draw and more about the geometry of your board. You're actively shaping your 'deck' to create synergies, and when a chain reaction finally hits, it gives you that same 'big number' rush you get from Balatro.
It's a distinct twist on the dice-builder trend. You're managing space as much as resources, which makes it feel different from Slay the Spire. However, it's still in Early Access, so it's got some rough edges. The meta-progression needs more polish, and some runs feel repetitive because the build variety isn't fully there yet. NightCracker is still tweaking the balance and working on the 6 planned boards and new dice types.
At $9.99, it's a fair price for the hook, but you're paying for a work-in-progress. If you're okay with some balance wobbles, the core loop is addictive enough to keep you coming back. Just don't expect a polished masterpiece right out of the gate.

Verdict
7.5/10. Grab this if you want a fresh, geometry-based roguelike to scratch that itch. If you hate Early Access instability or repetitive runs, wait until the balance and build variety are finished.
