What is Sunlit Kingdom?

If you're bored of the same old tower placement games, you need to check out Sunlit Kingdom. It swaps generic towers for a customizable hero system that lets you tinker with your build to survive brutal fantasy waves.

Gameplay

You aren't just plopping down generic towers here. Instead, you're managing three specific heroes: an Archer, a Mage, and a Holy Knight. The real hook is that each hero has four abilities to choose from, so you're basically building a custom loadout for every map. It's similar to the hero stuff in Kingdom Rush, but you've got way more control over the build. You'll spend a lot of time swapping abilities between runs to stop orc warbands from steamrolling your defenses.

You can take these builds through a story campaign across three different maps or push your luck in Adventure Mode to see how many waves you can survive. Every map has its own enemy factions with unique skills, which means you can't just find one 'meta' build and coast. You've got to pivot your strategy or you're toast.

Since it's a smaller indie title from Red Goblin Games, it doesn't have that polished, snappy feel you get with Bloons TD. The 3D visuals are bright and clean, but the movement can feel stiff and the UI is pretty basic. It's priced at $6.99, which is fair for the amount of content, but the learning curve for those abilities is a bit steep at the start. It's not a massive, complex simulation, but the hero-ability system gives it enough of a twist to keep it from feeling like a clone. I'd give it a solid 7/10.
