First Impressions: Train Trek Demo
Imagine a steampunk war-train that never stops moving, and now imagine you're the one bristling it with turrets to survive. Train Trek flips the tower defense genre on its head by putting your defenses on rails instead of a static map.

Gameplay
You're not building a maze here. Forget the static maps you see in Bloons or Kingdom Rush; in Train Trek, you're defending a massive steampunk war-train that never stops moving. Your main job is building your consist car by car, slapping turrets on the roof and managing ammo while you blast through a vibrant frontier. It's less about pathing and more about managing a moving fortress on rails.
The loop is surprisingly satisfying. You'll spend your time harvesting fuel on the move and capturing towns to upgrade your rig. It feels like a weird, cool hybrid of a survival game and a TD. You've gotta balance the aggression of your turrets with the needs of the train to keep the line held.
Since it's a demo, you'll definitely hit some rough edges. It's not a polished AAA experience, and the systems feel a bit raw. The biggest point of contention is the use of generative AI for the soundtrack, SFX, and UI art. Depending on how you feel about AI in indie games, this might be a dealbreaker or something you can ignore.
It's free to try, which makes the lack of polish easier to swallow. If you're bored of the same old TD formulas and want something more aggressive, the core idea is fresh enough to keep you hooked for a few sessions. Just don't expect a finished product yet.

First Impressions
I'm giving this a 7/10 as a proof of concept. Since it's free, you should definitely download it to see the on-rails mechanic, but if you hate AI-generated assets, you'll probably want to skip this one. I want to see way more train customization and visual polish in the full release.
