What is Starbase Tactics?

It’s an active, RTS-style autobattler that rewards smart pivoting over lucky shop rolls, despite some Early Access roughness.

If you’re tired of the passive 'buy units and pray' loop in other autobattlers, Starbase Tactics is a breath of fresh air. It forces you to engage with the game actively, turning every match into a high-stakes tactical puzzle rather than a spectator sport. You need to be ready to adapt instantly or get crushed by a smarter opponent.

Gameplay

You’re jumping into a 1v1 strategy autobattler that feels like someone squeezed a full RTS into a compact, fast-paced match. It’s not like TFT or Battlegrounds, where you just draft a comp and watch the auto-simulation do the work. Here, you’re actually scouting, timing your pushes, and making tactical choices on the fly. The loop is super tight: you build, plan, adapt, and then let the units clash. You’re constantly looking for that 'aha!' moment when you spot your opponent’s tech and pivot just in time to shut them down. It’s high-intensity but doesn’t overstay its welcome, giving you the strategic depth of an RTS without the four-hour map commitment. You’ll find yourself actively managing resources and positioning rather than just hoping the RNG gods bless your shop roll.

Verdict

This is a solid 8/10 for me right now because it’s doing something genuinely different in a saturated genre. If you want a game where your brain does the heavy lifting, grab it for $9.99. But if you need a polished, bug-free experience with balanced meta, wait for the full release.
