What is Runisthar?
Tired of playing defensively until you find one broken combo? You need to try Runisthar, a runic deckbuilder where offense is the only rule and you build modular engines to annihilate everything in your path.

Gameplay
You're not playing defense here. Runisthar flips the script on the usual deckbuilder slog by making offense the only rule. Your core loop revolves around collecting elemental runes to build a modular engine of destruction. Instead of just adding new cards to a pile, you're tweaking the actual mechanics of your attacks to create lethal synergies. It's fast, aggressive, and doesn't waste your time. If you've played Slay the Spire, you know that god-tier feeling when a deck finally clicks; Runisthar hits that peak way faster because of how you mod your runes.
Run variety comes from how you lean into those elements to melt enemies. The meta-progression is pretty standard roguelike stuff—you'll unlock new options to make future runs more chaotic. It doesn't reinvent the wheel on the progression front, but the combat is punchy enough to keep you hooked. At $4.99, it's a cheap entry point, but you're paying for an Early Access experience. That means you'll deal with some rough edges. The UI feels clunky in spots, and the tutorial is barely there. You'll have to experiment and fail a lot to figure out the deeper synergy stuff on your own.

Verdict
“Runisthar is an evolution of the deckbuilder; it's fast, satisfying, and manages to deliver a depth that many games in the genre fail to achieve.”
Grab this if you want a tactical assault that avoids the slow grind. If you hate clunky Early Access UIs or need a hand-holding tutorial, you might want to wait. 7.5/10.
