What is PetCraft?

A chill, creature-collecting TD that favors elemental synergy over raw power, though it's still a bit rough in Early Access.

Imagine a tower defense game where your turrets are actually collectible elemental pets you hatch and evolve. PetCraft blends creature-collecting vibes with strategic lane defense to create something surprisingly chill and addictive.

Gameplay

You're not just plopping down generic turrets here. In PetCraft, your towers are elemental pets that you hatch, collect, and upgrade to build your defense line. The core loop is pretty addictive: you fight through different biomes, grab rewards, and use them to snag better creatures. It's got a real 'gotta catch 'em all' energy that keeps you coming back to see what's next.

It's definitely not a hardcore sweat-fest like Defense Grid. It's way more relaxed and focuses on synergy. You'll spend your time thinking about how elemental roles interact rather than just spamming the strongest unit you own. If you're into creature collecting, you'll find the strategy rewarding because the roles actually matter.

However, you've gotta keep in mind it's Early Access. It doesn't have that snappy, polished feel of Kingdom Rush yet. Some systems are clearly still being tweaked by BlueMonkey Studio, and the depth is a bit shallow right now. It's a simpler experience, and you'll notice some rough edges as you play.

At $12.99, it's a bit of an investment for an indie TD in Early Access, but it's a fair price if you want something chill. It's the perfect game to run in the background while you're listening to a podcast. Just don't expect a finished masterpiece since it's still a work in progress. I'd give it a 7/10 for where it stands today.

Verdict

Grab this if you love collecting creatures and want a relaxed strategy game. If you demand deep systems or a polished, bug-free experience, wait until it leaves Early Access.
