What is Nightmare Invasion?
Nightmare Invasion throws the standard roguelike rulebook out the window by forcing you to build a city while fighting off nightmares. It’s a chaotic, ambitious mix of tower defense and deckbuilding that keeps you on your toes. If you’re tired of just clicking enemies, this might be the fresh twist you’ve been waiting for.

Gameplay
You’re not just playing a deckbuilder; you’re the 'will of the world' trying to stop Nightmare from wrecking your dreams. It’s a weird mashup of roguelike deckbuilding, tower defense, and urban construction that actually works. You spend your turns balancing city growth with combat, using cards to literally build dream cities and summon creatures to hold back the tide. The loop is addictive because you’re constantly tweaking your grid layout and hand to survive the next wave. Finding that one card boosting your tower’s fire rate while buffing your summoned units feels great. It’s less about raw combat math like in Slay the Spire and more about positioning and resource management. You’re basically running a base-builder hybrid where every card plays a dual role in defense and offense.

Verdict
It’s a solid 7.5/10 that’s worth your time if you want to build something while you fight. Skip it if you hate steep learning curves or clunky UIs, and wait for polish if you’re picky about bugs. It’s a fun experiment that succeeds despite being an indie effort with some rough edges.
