What is Land of Glarefall?
If you think tower defense is just about placing towers and waiting, Land of Glarefall will flip that script entirely. You’ll be swinging swords and casting spells while your defenses hold the line against relentless night hordes. It’s a chaotic, action-packed survival experience that demands your full attention.

Gameplay
You aren't just placing turrets and watching numbers go up in Land of Glarefall. You’re an investigator hunting for Black Gold in a world where every night is a fight for survival. The loop is straightforward but intense: scavenge resources by day, then build a base and personally fight off massive hordes by night. It feels like a hybrid of an action-RPG and tower defense, but with a heavy Survivors-like energy. You’re right in the thick of the combat, using tactical sword swings and magic alongside your structures. It’s not a static, set-it-and-forget-it experience like Kingdom Rush. You have to optimize your layout while dodging attacks. It’s satisfying, but it’s also rough around the edges. The demo shows a tiny two-person team at work, and you can feel the jank. You might find yourself manually clicking basic attacks during chaotic waves, which gets tedious fast. Still, the core loop of preparing for the next wave is addictive enough to make you lose track of time.

Verdict
“Game is really a slog starting out. I don't know if it's supposed to get easier, but I find myself having to level another character for the first map where you can use two characters. It's very grind…”
Grab the demo if you love hybrid action-tower defense games and don’t mind polishing your own gameplay. It’s an ambitious project with a great core loop, but the pre-alpha jank and manual combat tedium will drive away fans of polished, passive defense games. Wait for the full release in 2026 if you want a seamless experience.
