What is Lootborne?

Lootborne is a cheap, addictive idle autobattler with great market mechanics, but you have to tolerate early access bugs and a cheater problem.

If you want a second-screen game that doesn't demand your full attention but still gives you that dopamine hit of finding a legendary item, Lootborne might be your new obsession. It’s a scrappy dark-fantasy loot-fest that fits perfectly in the corner of your monitor.

Gameplay

Lootborne is a weirdly addictive desktop idle RPG that lives in the corner of your screen. You don't stare at it; you let it run while you work. Your character fights monsters and loots gear asynchronously. You only jump in to swap items, level up, or tweak your build. The loop is tight. You hunt for item synergies and forge upgrades to push through PvE stages. The real draw is the asynchronous PvP. You test your setup against other players' builds. It’s all about that 'gear is king' mentality. There’s a Steam Market integration too. You can sell rare, epic, and legendary drops. This adds a gambling layer to the loot hunt. It feels higher stakes than your average idle game. It’s not like TFT or Battlegrounds. It’s a second-screen experience that gives you dopamine hits without demanding your full attention.

Key Features

  • Desktop idle RPG with async PvP
  • Steam Market item trading
  • Dark fantasy loot synergies
  • Forging and gear upgrades
  • Low-stakes high-reward gambling loop

What Players Say

The community is split, largely due to launch issues. One player noted, 'During the launch there are bound to be cheaters,' which was a major pain point. Others were frustrated by balance exploits where hundreds of players abused a leveling glitch. The devs patched it but did zero rollbacks, letting abusers keep their progress. Despite this, some love it. One reviewer called it 'a brutal, gear-focused roguelite autobattler that turns loot-hunting into a high-stakes gamble.' Another player with 90 hours in said, 'Dev seems like he cares a lot so ill keep playing.' But don't ignore the negative feedback. One user complained that the devs were 'posting over and over in discord for people to leave positive reviews,' which soured the experience for them. It’s a mixed bag of passionate support and serious launch chaos.

For the price, it’s definitely worth a try if you like idle mechanics and don’t mind some rough edges. Just don't expect a polished AAA experience or a fair competitive environment right now. If you hate the idea of paying $1.99 for an early access game with known cheaters, wait for the 1.0 launch.
