First Impressions: Football Manager: Auto Chess Demo

A unique blend of football management and auto-chess that's addictive but desperately needs more visual polish.

Imagine if a sports management sim had a baby with an autobattler. You're managing a themed football club and using tactical cards to flip the script during live matches. It's a weird, fresh take on the genre that swaps fantasy wizards for football pitches.

Gameplay

You're basically running a themed club from the ground up, scouting odd talents and building bonds between players to climb from the lower leagues to the big stages. It's not like Teamfight Tactics where you're just praying for a 3-star unit; it's way more about the prep work and the mid-game chaos. You handle the recruitment and training, then jump into near-realtime matches where you drag coach skill cards onto the pitch to rewrite the moment. The loop of rising through the divisions is genuinely addictive, but don't expect a polished experience. It feels like a prototype right now, and some of the stat buffs feel invisible, which kills that power trip feeling you usually want from an autobattler. Since it's a free demo, the stakes are low, but the lack of 'juice' in the mechanics makes it feel a bit thin in places.

First Impressions

It's a 6/10 for me right now. If you love the idea of being a tactical mastermind without controlling the players' legs, definitely grab this for free. Just wait for a full release if you can't stand rough edges and a lack of visual feedback.
