You aren't just placing towers and watching them shoot. In Demon Princess Retreat, you play as Nolan, the last surviving demon princess, leading your people to a new home. It's a weird mix of a traditional TD, an RTS, and an extraction shooter. You drop into a map, fight off enemies, and loot resources, but here's the catch: you have to actually extract to keep any of your progress. If you don't get out in time, you lose your loot.
It's way more active than Bloons or Kingdom Rush. You're managing a retreat, not just a wave. You've gotta be smart with your mana usage to trigger 'miracles' that help you survive the trip out. The loop is addictive, but it's definitely a passion project with some rough edges. Since it's not fully launching until June 2026, you'll run into a clunky UI and some balance issues that make the experience feel unpolished.
At $3.99, the price is fair for the ambition, but you're paying for a vision that's still being tuned. It's not for you if you want a polished, relaxing experience. It's a desperate struggle for survival where the tension comes from the risk of losing everything. If you can handle the clunkiness, the extraction twist makes the whole genre feel fresh again.

Based on the demo, it's a 7/10 with huge potential. You should try the demo if you're bored of path-blocking and want a survival struggle, but wait for the full release if you can't stand clunky UIs. I want to see the balance issues fixed before the 2026 launch.
