You're not just sitting back and watching a path here. In Gears of Annihilation, you're dropped into a zombie wasteland where you've gotta actually move around and scavenge for resources. The core loop is simple but addictive: go out, grab scrap, build turrets, and pray your golems hold the line when the horde hits. It's way more active than something like Bloons TD because you're managing territory and fighting for survival in a hybrid survival-TD mix.
The golems are the real secret sauce. They give you way more tactical flexibility than just static guns, making the game feel like a mix of a base builder and a tower defense. You'll spend a lot of time figuring out the resource loop and expanding your territory to survive wave after wave. It's an intense experience that doesn't hold your hand, which is great if you love figuring things out on the fly.
But it's definitely an indie project with some rough edges. The polish isn't AAA—some of the menus feel clunky and the UI can be a bit confusing at first. You won't find a massive guidebook for it since it's niche, so you'll be doing a lot of trial and error. Since it's Free to Play, the value is high, but you've gotta be willing to put up with those clunky menus to get to the same level of addictive gameplay.
