What is 保卫粮食 Grain Defense?

A chaotic, budget-friendly blend of tower defense and drafting where you build synergistic crop defenses to survive pest swarms.

Imagine if Hearthstone Battlegrounds had a baby with a survivor-like and a tower defense game. That's Grain Defense, a chaotic blend where you play a fancy farmer fighting off endless swarms of pests. It's weird, it's messy, and it actually works.

Gameplay

You play as an agricultural researcher fighting off swarms of pests attacking from every direction. It's a wild mix of tower defense, survivor-likes, and the drafting style you'd see in Hearthstone Battlegrounds. Instead of building walls, you're buying crops from a shop to act as your towers. The loop is all about the synergy; you'll spend your time hunting for specific crop combos to turn your field into a death zone. It's not a traditional card-draw system like Slay the Spire, but the way you draft units and optimize your layout hits that same strategic itch.

Run variety stays high because the enemies aren't just mindless mobs. The coolest part is the community aspect where players customize enemy difficulty and upload it for you to challenge. It stops the meta from getting stale because you're always hitting a new wall of difficulty. However, it's definitely a rough indie title. The UI feels clunky and it lacks any AAA polish. For $3.99, it's a cheap entry point, but you're paying for raw experimental energy rather than a refined experience. If you hate clunky menus, this might grate on you.

Verdict

I'm giving this a 7.5/10. If you love starting with nothing and building a god-tier field of death, grab it, but skip it if you can't stand clunky indie UIs.
