First Impressions: Slime Tempest Demo

A low-stress, free demo perfect for players who prefer nuclear power creep and relic hunting over competitive drafting.

Imagine a world where you don't have to sweat a competitive ladder just to feel powerful. Slime Tempest lets you build a broken army of mercenaries to absolutely vaporize slime swarms in a peaceful canyon. It's a low-stress power trip that's all about making your damage numbers go nuclear.

Gameplay

You're playing as a 'fixer' defending a canyon from endless swarms of slime, and the loop is surprisingly addictive. It's not like TFT or Battlegrounds where you're sweating a 20-minute competitive match; instead, it's a low-stress hybrid that leans heavily into incremental gaming. Your mercenaries handle the attacking automatically, so your actual job is focusing on the power creep. You'll spend most of your time digging into a massive skill tree and hunting for rare relics to make your damage numbers go absolutely nuclear. It's all about that feeling of building a broken build that just deletes everything on screen.

Since it's a demo from a tiny 3-person team, you'll definitely notice some rough edges. The UI isn't exactly polished and it feels a bit bare-bones in certain spots, but the core 'numbers go up' itch is totally there. As one player put it, "I really enjoyed the Slime Heroes demo" in early builds, and that same vibe carries through here. It's less about high-stakes drafting and more about the satisfaction of weapon upgrades and seeing your firepower scale.

If you're looking for a hardcore climb, this isn't it. But if you want something you can leave running while you do other stuff, it's a great fit. It's a passion project that works because it doesn't try to be a competitive esport. It just wants you to find the most broken combination of mercenaries and relics possible. I'd give it a 7/10 for a demo; it's solid, but it needs more content and a bit of a shine before the 2026 release. Since it's free to try, you've got nothing to lose by downloading it when you're bored.
