What is Road to Verdant?

It’s a janky but addictive solo-developer auto-runner that swaps board drafting for deep RPG crafting and sprinting action.

Stop scrolling past another Teamfight Tactics clone for a second. Road to Verdant throws the draft-and-fight loop out the window for a sprinting archer with serious RPG ambitions. It’s weird, it’s rough, and it might just be the fresh breath of air your autobattler addiction needs right now.

Gameplay

You aren't drafting units on a grid here. Road to Verdant is an auto-runner RPG where you control a humble archer sprinting through a massive magical world. You dodge traps and fight enemies automatically, but you’re constantly managing your build. You craft equipment, upgrade stats, and trade items between runs. It’s a roguelite loop disguised as an auto-combat game. You optimize your gear to survive harder stages, which clicks if you like crunching numbers. But it’s rough around the edges. You’ll hit janky spots because it’s a solo dev project. The polish isn’t there yet. It feels like an experiment that’s still finding its footing. You’ll spend more time tweaking your archer’s loadout than watching the combat. That’s the core loop: run, loot, optimize, repeat. It’s addictive, but it’s definitely indie.

Verdict

Grab it for $7.99 if you’re bored of static board games and want a fantasy adventure with auto-combat. Skip it if you need AAA polish or hate playing games with visible bugs. It’s a cool experiment that needs more patches, but the $7.99 price tag makes the risk worth it for curious fans.
