What is Ribbit Rogue?
Imagine a strategic roguelike where you swap cards for customizable dice to purge a corrupted swamp. Ribbit Rogue is a compact, addictive indie gem that focuses on tight synergies over massive scale. It's the kind of game you'll start playing for ten minutes and suddenly realize it's 2 AM.

Gameplay
You're fighting through a corrupted swamp, but don't expect a standard card game. Instead of cards, you're building a deck of dice. You've got a limited deck size of ten total dice, and each round you pick four out of seven to use. This keeps you from just spamming one overpowered move and forces you to actually think about your composition. It's got that 'just one more run' energy you find in Slay the Spire, but the dice RNG adds a layer of tension that keeps things fresh.
The real meat is in the relics. They create game-breaking synergies with your dice that let you feel like a god if you build them right. You'll navigate unique events in the swamp to keep runs from feeling identical, and you can customize your dice as you go. Meta-progression is light but satisfying, and you'll need to win on certain difficulties to unlock the three available characters.
Just be aware it's a small indie experience. It started on the Playdate, so it's compact and casual. It doesn't have the massive scale or complexity of Monster Train, and the presentation is very simple. At $9.99, it's a fair price for the polish, but you're paying for a tight, focused loop rather than a sprawling epic. If you want a deep, 40-hour tactical sink, this isn't it, but for a punchy session, it clicks perfectly.
