What is Lightholm?
Lightholm asks you to keep a single lantern lit against waves of monsters, turning tower defense into a tight, tactical puzzle rather than a sprawling army builder. It’s a lean indie title that trades massive scale for intense, heat-managing combat where every shot counts. If you prefer strategy over spectacle, this focused loop might just be your new weekend chill.

Gameplay
You’re basically keeping one lantern lit while monsters try to crash your party. It’s a small, single-player vibe, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s shallow. You’ve got four tower types, but you can’t just spam them. They overheat. Seriously, if you try to melt a boss without managing the heat, you’re dead. You have to slow, burn, or shock enemies to open them up, then bring them down. It’s all about elemental combos and timing your attacks rather than just building and forgetting. There are twelve boards to clear, and once you beat one, you unlock an Endless mode for that specific board. Between runs, you dip into a skill tree to feel your progress. It’s less about sprawling maps and more about a focused puzzle where you optimize every shot to keep that flame alive.

Verdict
It’s a solid, honest TD that knows exactly what it is, earning a 7/10 for its tight mechanics and satisfying loop. It’s worth a few bucks if you want something chill to optimize, but skip it if you need deep lore or massive replayability beyond endless mode. The price is fair for the scope, but don’t expect a AAA polish.
