What is Textorio?

A brutal, text-based factory sim that demands deep system management rather than traditional tower defense tactics.

Textorio isn't a traditional tower defense game with flashy animations; it's a brutal, text-based factory automation simulator where you manage real physics to survive alien attacks. If you love deep systems and don't mind staring at a 1980s terminal, this solo project by Hyena Studios might just eat your soul.

Gameplay

Textorio is a wild ride if you’re into factory automation, but don’t go in expecting a traditional tower defense. You crash-land on a dead planet with a terminal and 50,000 sleeping colonists buried somewhere below. Your job? Build a massive industrial complex to keep them alive. It’s not about placing cute turrets; it’s about managing real simulated electricity, fluid pressure, steam, and logic gates. You mine ore, smelt it, automate the process, and then dive deeper into four layers of the world. The defense aspect kicks in when hostile wildlife attacks your base. You aren’t just chilling; you’re frantically tweaking your power grid and pipe networks to keep the fortress running while aliens try to tear it down. It’s raw, brutal, and incredibly addictive. One mistake in your logic and everything collapses. You’ll find yourself in that dangerous 'just one more tweak' loop that ruins your sleep schedule.

Verdict

If you love deep systems and don't mind a lack of graphics, Textorio is absolutely worth your time, especially at the $3.99 price point. However, if you want a casual experience or flashy visuals, stay far away. Since it’s in Early Access, expect some rough edges and bugs, so give the free demo a shot first.
