What is idle:Doodle Realm?
If you need something to keep running in the background while you work, you've gotta try idle:Doodle Realm. It's a cozy hybrid of an auto-battler and an incremental game where you build an unstoppable army through loot and relics.
Gameplay
Forget everything you know about placing towers and micro-managing lanes like you do in Bloons or Kingdom Rush. In idle:Doodle Realm, you're not a general; you're a manager. Your units automatically push forward in a castle war style, so the actual 'game' happens in the menus. You'll spend your time hunting for loot, slotting in relics, and tweaking unit synergies to make your army absolutely cracked. It's a classic loop: fight, grab gear, upgrade talents, and repeat. If you love that hit of dopamine when a new piece of equipment suddenly doubles your damage, you'll be hooked.
That said, it's still in Early Access, so it's definitely got some rough edges. The developer, JIANBING, is still working on level themes and long-term goals, which means the experience can feel a bit thin if you're hunting for a massive epic. It's also a paid title at $5.69, which is a bit unusual for an idle game since most are free-to-play. You're basically paying for a cozy, ad-free experience, but don't expect deep tactical combat. It's a derivative auto-battler that relies on its chill doodle art style and progression systems to keep you coming back. It's a solid 7/10 for me because it nails the addiction factor, even if it doesn't reinvent the wheel.
