What is GRIDMINE?
If you’re tired of the same old linear tower defense grind, GRIDMINE offers a refreshing pivot by blending survival mechanics with deep incremental progression. You mine crystals by surviving waves, then spend them on a massive skill tree to optimize your next run. It’s a tight, retro loop that prioritizes meta-growth over map variety.

Gameplay
You jump into GRIDMINE, a retro tower defense that ditches the traditional map progression for something closer to an incremental roguelite. Instead of beating levels to unlock new areas, you just survive as long as possible on a single grid to extract crystals. It’s a refreshing pivot from the standard 'place tower, wait for win' loop. Once your run ends, you take those resources to a massive skill tree to upgrade your towers and abilities. This meta-game is where the real addiction kicks in. You’ll find yourself saying 'just one more run' because you’re five crystals away from a build change that completely alters your strategy. The visuals are low-fi and pixelated, so don’t expect cinematic flair, but the core loop is tight enough to keep you engaged. It’s a short experience, but the incremental progression makes every minute count.

Verdict
“honestly the game is way too small and rigid... as far as I can tell, I have pretty much seen it all in less than an hour. the upgrades are the expected cliche incremental tropes with duplicates to…”
Grab it if you want a cheap, low-stress strategy fix that scratches that specific itch for growth and optimization without breaking the bank. Skip it if you need deep, varied maps or high-fidelity graphics, as this is a short, niche passion project. It’s a solid 7/10 for what it is, but know that it’s a brief experience with some rough edges.
