What is Gambetto?
Imagine if someone decided Chess was too slow and Slay the Spire wasn't boardy enough. Gambetto fuses chess tactics with a roguelike deckbuilder to create a weird, wild mix that actually works.

Gameplay
You're dropping into a 5x5 grid where chess moves are actually your cards. Instead of just sliding pieces, you're casting 'Gambits' to shift units and trigger combos to outsmart the AI. It's a tight loop where you aren't just stacking damage, but building a tactical engine. You'll spend your runs hunting for specific cards to protect your King or aggressively pushing a pawn for a promotion. Unlike the infinite scaling you'll find in Monster Train, Gambetto limits you to five Gambits, so you can't just build a broken 'I win' deck. You've actually got to use spatial awareness to survive. The variety stays fresh because enemy layouts are randomized, which keeps you from relying on one stale strategy. It's less of a grandmaster sim and more of a tactical puzzle that makes you care where your units are standing.

Verdict
At $4.99, it's a cheap thrill for anyone tired of the standard play-card-deal-damage loop. If you want a high-polish experience or deep grandmaster complexity, skip this. Otherwise, it's a 7/10 vibe worth your time.
