What is FootBall Card Battle?

A fast, chaotic sports-deckbuilder hybrid that's great for quick sessions but lacks deep progression.

Ever wonder what happens when you smash a sports sim and a deckbuilder together? FootBall Card Battle is a weird, fast-paced experiment that trades slow strategy for real-time pitch chaos.

Gameplay

You aren't sitting around pondering moves for ten minutes here. It's real-time chaos. You'll spend your matches frantically playing cards to push the ball up the pitch, trying to hit 5 goals before your opponent does. It's more of a tactical skirmish than a slow-burn dungeon crawl like Slay the Spire. Your core loop is drafting your squad as your deck and balancing positions between defenders, mids, and strikers. If you stack too many strikers, you'll score, but your defense becomes a total sieve.

Synergy comes from how you use 'magic cards' to boost stats or trip up the other team, but you can't just spam your best plays. There's a fatigue mechanic that forces you to rotate your strategy mid-match or watch your players burn out. The meta-progression is a bit thin compared to Monster Train; you're mostly just hunting for better player cards to optimize your build. There's no deep world map to explore, which makes the long-term hook feel a bit light.

At $3.99, it's a cheap entry point, but it definitely feels like an indie project. The UI is clunky and some card interactions lack polish. Once you find a deck that works, the gameplay can feel static because you're not constantly shifting gears. It's a fun palette cleanser, but it doesn't have the depth to be a life-consuming addiction. I'd give it a 6.5/10.
