What is ERODE?
ERODE is a wild card of a roguelike that swaps traditional card drafting for an elemental fusion system. You'll combine four types of stones to forge gear and fight your way through an unpolished but interesting world.

Gameplay
You aren't just picking cards here. The core loop in ERODE revolves around four types of elemental stones that you combine to forge your weapons and gear. It's less about curating a deck and more about figuring out how to fuse these elements to break the game. When your combinations click against enemies, it feels great, but you'll definitely hit walls when the synergies don't align.
Don't expect the depth of Monster Train or the polish of Balatro. The variety is there, but it's shallow. You'll likely find yourself leaning on a few broken stone combos because the meta-progression doesn't really push you to experiment. It feels more like a generic action-roguelike than a true deckbuilding innovator right now.
Then there's the state of the game. It's rough. The UI is clunky and the art is very 'indie.' It's clearly in an unfinished state, which makes the experience feel disjointed. At $1.49, it's an odd price point—not quite free, but cheap enough that you might not care about the friction.
If you're a genre junkie, you'll appreciate the core mechanic. But for most, the lack of polish will be a major drag. It's got a heart, but it needs a massive overhaul before it's actually a smooth ride.

Grab this if you love digging through unpolished gems for a cool mechanic. If you want a seamless, deep experience, skip it until the dev fixes the clunky UI and shallow meta.
