What is Draft Showdown?

Draft Showdown offers a fast, addictive auto-battler twist on tower defense, but rough matchmaking and aggressive monetization hold it back from greatness.

If you want a quick way to kill time on your phone, Draft Showdown is a decent little strategy hybrid from Voodoo. It takes the core thrill of tower defense but strips out the slow pacing for something punchier and more aggressive. You’ll be drafting squads and watching them clash in real-time, making every second count.

Gameplay

Draft Showdown isn’t your traditional 'build a maze and wait' tower defense. It’s more like a TD-flavored auto-battler where you aren't meticulously placing towers. Instead, you’re rapidly drafting units and spells to build a squad, then watching them clash in real-time combat. The loop is honestly addictive. You draft, you fight, you pivot. If your current setup is getting shredded, you've gotta adjust your strategy for the next round or you're cooked. It’s way more aggressive than something like Kingdom Rush—you aren't defending a castle as much as you're trying to overpower the other guy's line. Three draws, three picks, limitless outcomes. Will you unleash an Archer volley, roll explosive TNT into enemy lines, or gamble on a mighty Goose Army? No two drafts are ever alike. It strips away the boring stuff and just gives you the drafting and the fighting.

Key Features

  • Draft a squad in seconds
  • Watch real-time auto-combat
  • Pivot tactics round by round
  • Fast-paced strategic duels
  • No tower placement required

What Players Say

Players are split on the experience, with some calling it 'very addictive game and very entertaining' while others are frustrated by the state of the matchmaking. One reviewer noted 'progression issues after Arena 3,' highlighting a grind that sets in quickly. There’s also significant backlash regarding monetization, with one user warning that it 'now costs $15' for a mandatory character, and another complaining that the game 'stacks the other side to where winning sometimes isn't possible.' While some find it 'fun, basic strategy game' and not too overstimulating, others feel it’s a 'lame grift' designed to force spending rather than letting skill win.

Verdict

“very addictive game and very entertaining highly recommend”
— ★★★★★ Google Play — benjielito navarro
“Game was fun until last update. It's now pay to win. New character, which costs $15, is mandatory to not lose. Uninstall”
— ★ Google Play — Chris R
“I absolutely love the game. it's cool. only thing is when I watch ads in the game or in the store, most times I don't get the rewards. that's a real pain. other than that, love it 💕.”
— ★★★★ Google Play — Christina Applegate
“in a way, it's a clash royale, but simpler”
— ★★★★★ Google Play — Chills Cop
“Pretty fun overall, but kind of lame that it basically decides whether you have a chance to win against the computer players you're playing against. Definitely not playing against real people, & it stacks the other side to where winning sometimes isn't possible. Lame grift to try and get you to spen”
— ★★ Google Play — Chris Weston
“Fun, basic strategy game.”
— ★★★★★ Google Play — Tim Henry
“I really like it because it's not too overstimulating and it's pretty silly.”
— ★★★★★ Google Play — Phillip Crandell

It’s a blast for short bursts if you like the strategic side of TD but hate the slow pace. However, if you’re looking for a fair competitive environment or deep progression, skip it until Voodoo fixes the matchmaking and pay-to-win elements. It’s free, so you can test it without risk, but don’t expect a polished long-term experience.
