First Impressions: Dice Factory Demo

A chaotic, free demo where you shoot dice from the sky to build a kingdom and fight bosses.

Imagine if a city-builder and an autobattler had a baby, and that baby was obsessed with physics and gambling. Dice Factory lets you shoot dice from the sky to build a kingdom and an army in real-time.

Gameplay

Forget everything you know about grid-based autobattlers. In Dice Factory, you aren't just buying units from a shop; you're literally shooting dice from the sky onto the map. It's a wild mix of a city-builder and a battle sim. You toss a Field Die to create wheat, then shoot a Worker Die into that field to get your production moving. From there, you build production chains to recruit armies and defend your castle against bosses. It's way more active than sitting back and watching a fight in something like TFT.

Since it's a demo, you'll definitely hit some rough edges. The UI isn't polished, and the whole experience feels a bit janky in spots. It's in a very experimental phase, so don't expect a smooth ride. The loop of shooting dice to grow your kingdom is weirdly addictive, but the physics can be a pain. Sometimes a die bounces the wrong way and ruins your plan, which can be frustrating when you're trying to optimize your layout.

Depth-wise, it's still pretty simplistic. You're not diving into complex synergies yet, but the novelty of physics-based city building keeps you coming back. It's free to try, so there's zero risk, but it's definitely a scrappy indie project rather than a polished product. You'll spend most of your time wrestling with the dice to see if you can actually build a viable defense before the enemy waves overwhelm you.

First Impressions

It's a 7/10 for a demo. If you're bored of the same old autobattlers and want something free and weird, give it a shot. If you hate janky UIs or unpredictable physics, you might want to wait for the full release to see if they sand down the edges.
