You'll spend most of your time positioning 9 different wardens to stop waves of enemies across five biomes, from volcanic badlands to enchanted forests. It's not a 'set it and forget it' deal because you've got over 30 enemy types with specific resistances and weaknesses you have to account for. If you've played Kingdom Rush, the fantasy vibe will feel familiar, but the real hook is the Folly. It's a 20-tier roguelike ascent that gives the game way more replay value than a standard campaign.
That said, it's a debut title from Frosty Wren Studios, so you'll run into some indie rough edges. The early challenges feel repetitive until you finally unlock the cooler talents. It's also a bit on the casual side. If you're hunting for the brutal, high-level complexity of something like Defense Grid, you're going to find this too simple.
At $10.99, you're paying a premium for a genre that's often free-to-play, but the charm justifies it. The writing uses a quirky 'Olde English' style that's actually funny and gives the whole world a storybook feel. Between the voice acting and the loop of clearing the compass-rose campaign before diving back into the Folly, it's a very addictive experience. I'd give it a solid 7.5/10.
