First Impressions: Apawcalypse: Gang War Demo
Ever wondered what happens when you give guns to wasteland animals and make them fight for turf? Apawcalypse: Gang War is a weird, gritty deckbuilder that lets you lead a furry militia in a brutal struggle for survival.

Gameplay
You're leading an animal gang in a wasteland, and the core loop is basically Slay the Spire mixed with a gang war sim. You'll spend your time building decks to fight rival gangs while trying to fortify your hideout. The real draw is the synergy; you aren't just playing cards, you're evolving your combat system as the run progresses. When those combos click, it feels great, but you'll definitely hit walls where you're just drawing dead cards while a mutated raccoon beats you into the dirt.
Run variety is decent for a demo, though the balance is clearly still being tweaked. The meta-progression tied to your hideout has a ton of potential, but it's not fully fleshed out yet. Since it's a free demo, it's an easy entry point, but be warned: it's a total CPU hog. Your fans might sound like a jet engine while you're playing. It's definitely in a 'rough draft' phase, and the jank is apparent, but the indie charm keeps it moving.

First Impressions
It's a 6/10 foundation that needs a lot of sanding down before 2026. Since it's free, you should grab it if you love the genre and have an hour to kill, but skip it if you can't stand unpolished Early Access jank.
