What is Agestan?
Imagine if someone smashed a deckbuilder together with the board game Battleship. That's Agestan, a weird indie project where you build a hidden army and fire catapults into the dark to destroy your rivals.

Gameplay
You aren't climbing a tower here; you're playing a high-stakes game of Battleship with cards. The core loop is all about drafting cards to build a hidden base and an army, then firing catapults into the fog of war to crush your rivals. It's a psychological trip because you can't see the enemy—you're just guessing where they've tucked their defenses. Instead of the infinite combo loops you'll find in Slay the Spire, you're focusing on base utility and cohesive army composition to survive a blind hit.
Run variety comes from how you layout your base and which units you prioritize. It's less about mathing out a perfect turn and more about a strategic gamble. However, the meta-progression is pretty lean right now. Since it's in Early Access, you'll definitely feel those 'demo' vibes. The UI is clunky when you're managing your layout, and it lacks the polish of something like Monster Train. At $9.99, it's a fair price for the hook, but you're paying for an experiment that's still being smoothed out. If you hate guessing games or need a deep, polished progression system to stay interested, this might feel too shallow for you.

Verdict
Grab this if you're bored of standard roguelikes and want a strategic gamble. If you can't stand clunky UI or Early Access rough edges, wait for a few more patches.
