First Impressions: Wardens of Inysgar Demo

A free, janky power-trip of an autobattler that's great for idling, provided you can handle the chaotic visuals.

Ever wanted the power trip of an autobattler without the stress of a ranked ladder? You've gotta check out the Wardens of Inysgar demo. It's a stylized 3D adventure where you build a squad and watch them wreck everything in their path.

Gameplay

If you're bored of the competitive grind in TFT or Battlegrounds, you've gotta try the Wardens of Inysgar demo. It's not a lobby-based brawler; it's more of a 3D incremental autobattler. You play as the last Warden, and your whole loop is about reassembling a squad, leveling them up, and then stepping back to watch them tear through enemies. It's very 'set it and forget it' in the best way possible. You'll spend your time navigating skill trees and exploring the lands of Inysgar to make your party ridiculously overpowered.

But let's be real: it's an indie project from Piebald Puppy Studio, and it shows. You'll find some serious jank here. It's "pretty rough, technically speaking," and the UI doesn't exactly break new ground. One player even mentioned "the entire gameplay loop, even the UI, looks very similar" to other incremental games you've probably played. You aren't reinventing the wheel here, but the satisfaction of seeing those damage numbers explode is still there.

Since it's free, it's a low-stakes way to scratch that strategy itch without sweating in a ranked match. It's a solid foundation, but the rough edges mean it's not a 'must-play' just yet. I'd give the current state of the demo a 6/10. It's a chill ride, provided you can overlook the technical hiccups while you build your team.

“This feels like a fever dream of a game. It's kind of annoying to stare at. The skill tree is pointless at least with Fighter it is, genuinely could've just been a single menu that says what …”

If you love incremental games and don't mind some serious jank, give this a shot since it's free. It's perfect if you want a low-pressure way to build an OP team, but if you hate messy UIs, you'll probably want to skip it.
