First Impressions: Rogues & Fate Demo

A free, fast-paced RPG autobattler where the goal is to find broken gear synergies to melt enemies.

You've gotta check out the Rogues & Fate Demo if you're into breaking games with overpowered builds. It's a weird, addictive mix of an RPG and an autobattler that focuses on gear synergies over everything else.

Gameplay

You're managing two heroes in a fast-paced loop where the combat is almost secondary to the gear. Your main goal is to hunt for weapons, relics, runes, and summons to build a duo that can crush the Fate King. It's not like TFT or Battlegrounds because you aren't fighting other players for units; it's a pure roguelike experience centered on inventory management. The real thrill comes when you find a combo so cracked that the enemies just melt, giving you that satisfying feeling of breaking the game.

Since it's a demo from a solo dev, you'll definitely hit some rough edges. It's not AAA polish, and some systems feel lean. You're essentially playing a proof of concept for a full release that isn't coming until 2027, so expect some gaps in the experience. However, the sheer volume of build combinations keeps the loop from getting stale. It's all about that 'numbers go up' dopamine hit and fitting gear together like a puzzle to create insane synergies.

It's free to try, which makes the lack of polish easy to overlook. If you love the idea of inventory tetris mixed with an auto-battler, you'll find plenty to chew on here. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, but focusing the strategy on the backpack rather than just the board is a cool twist that keeps you coming back for one more run.

Key Features

  • Two-hero inventory management
  • Thousands of insane builds

This is a solid 7/10 proof of concept that's well worth a download since it's free. You should try it if you love gear-hunting and broken combos, but if you need deep, polished systems, you might want to wait for the full release. I'm looking forward to seeing how the leveling evolves before the 2027 launch.
