What is Pyrewarden?

If you're bored of the same old 'place and upgrade' loop, you've gotta try Pyrewarden. It's a fantasy TD where adjacency is everything, forcing you to treat your map like a giant chemistry set to unlock insane power combos.

Gameplay

You aren't just spamming the strongest tower and calling it a day here. The whole loop in Pyrewarden revolves around adjacency, meaning where you place your towers matters more than what they are. You've got 12 magic schools to work with, and you'll spend most of your time hunting for 66 different synergies by blending schools together. It turns your defense into a puzzle where you're constantly rearranging layouts to trigger combos that melt enemy waves. It's not as arcadey as Bloons TD, but you'll get that same rush when a build finally clicks and everything explodes.

With 144 tower variants and deep upgrade trees across 21 maps, there's plenty to chew on. You can tackle the endless wave escalation solo or jump into online co-op. However, it's clearly an indie project from Morass Games, and you'll feel those rough edges. The UI gets clunky when you're trying to manage complex synergies mid-wave, and some maps start to feel repetitive. It's a bit unpolished, but at $0.99, it's a steal for the amount of strategy you get. You're basically paying a dollar for a massive logic puzzle that happens to be a tower defense game.
