What is Neko Rogue?

Imagine a cyberpunk heist where your weapon is a deck of cards and your target is the enemy's own strategy. Neko Rogue puts you in the paws of a cat thief dismantling a dystopian underworld one hand at a time.

Gameplay

You play as a masked cat thief in a neon city, and the loop is way more aggressive than your average deckbuilder. Instead of just playing defense cards and praying you survive the turn, you're actively sabotaging the enemy's Intent Cards. You'll steal their block and cut their damage before it even hits you, which makes the combat feel like a proactive heist rather than a slog. It's less about building a perfect engine like in Slay the Spire and more about dismantling the opponent's engine while you build your own.

The deck-building gets a spicy twist because you loot cards directly from the enemies you defeat. This adds a great layer of variety to your runs since your build depends on who you've managed to outplay. However, you're going to hit a wall fast. Right now, you've only got a handful of fights, one boss, and a single shop to work with. The meta-progression is barely there because the dev has only finished the first stage.

At $12.99, it's a tough sell for what it currently is. You aren't getting a 40-hour epic; you're getting a proof-of-concept. The core loop clicks, but the content is incredibly thin. You'll run out of things to do almost immediately, leaving you wanting more districts to conquer. It's a diamond in the rough, but it's mostly just rough right now.

Grab this if you're a deckbuilder junkie who wants to test a cool new sabotage mechanic. Otherwise, wait until the other districts are actually built, as the current content is too thin to justify the price.
