What is Mythic Tools MTG?
Stop looking for a video game roguelike if you downloaded Mythic Tools MTG; it’s not a standalone combat loop. Instead, it’s the ultimate Swiss Army knife for players who actually sit down to play the physical Magic: The Gathering TCG. This app handles the boring logistics so you can focus on the game at the table.
Gameplay
First off, let’s get the terminology straight because the name tricks you. Mythic Tools MTG isn’t a roguelike deckbuilder like Slay the Spire or Balatro. It’s a utility suite for the physical Magic: The Gathering TCG. You aren’t running through a dungeon; you’re managing your physical collection. The core loop is all about collection management. You use the lightning-fast scanner to digitize your physical hoard, then build decks based on what you actually own. It’s a lifesaver so you don’t waste hours building a perfect deck on Moxfield only to realize you’re missing half the cards. You track win rates, save games, and keep stats for your playgroup. It turns your phone into a digital game log that just sits open on the table during matches. There’s no meta-progression or synergy building in the video game sense, but the logistics of managing the world’s biggest TCG become way less of a headache.

What Players Say
The community is largely obsessed with it, with users calling it their 'new Swiss Army Knife' and praising the scanner as the 'best card scanner so far' for its accuracy and ease of use. Many love that it’s free and covers all their basic needs, with one player noting they can 'scan perfectly, including set' and toggle foils without issue. However, it’s not flawless. Some users are frustrated by UI quirks, like being unable to easily back out of card views or remove cards from a deck after scanning. One reviewer complained, 'My only problem with the app is that there isn't a method of easily removing cards from a collection or deck,' while others hit snags with importing deck lists or dealing with 'smart deck' recommendations that suggest illegal combos. It’s a powerful tool, but you’ll occasionally hit rough edges with the interface or sync delays for new sets.

Verdict
“My review has changed to three stars with the most recent update. I do not like the feature that whenever I tap on a card, I can't back out of viewing that single card. I have to either tap on another card or find some empty space within the deck lister to tap, and even then it sometimes doesn't bac”
“best card scanner so far and the deck and card catalog is super helpful”
“The smart decks thing is so stupid and there's no way to hide it”
“Scans perfectly, including set. easy toggle for foils, free features cover all my uses, import/export available. very happy thanks!”
“fixed the deck saving issue by re installation, only thing is some holos on here are at a reduced price compared to on other markets or not changing price despite higher value. 9/10 app. still doesn't let me redeem the free smart deck though 🫤”
“Amazing app! My new Swiss Army Knife.”
“can not upload or import dexk list”
“First red flag was when it told me 90 other people have scanned my EXACT deck (it is possible there are that many out there, but not that many using the same app) then it tried giving me card recommendations for illegal (in game) combos :( It DID make me want to go price my deck though”
“My only problem with the app is that there isn't a method of easily removing cards from a collection or deck. I would love to be able to scan the five cards I've already cut from a deck, then the app detect which place that they came from and for me to Simply confirm and remove from said deck or lis”
If you play Magic, this is a must-have free tool that will save you time and frustration at the table. If you don’t play the physical TCG, skip it immediately as it has no standalone gameplay. The 4.9/5 score reflects its utility dominance, not video game depth, so grab it if you want to streamline your tabletop experience.
