What is Blosharper: Battle of Blossoms?

A cheap, addictive roguelike where you use over 100 cheat skills to scam your way through Hwatu card games.

Forget playing fair. In Blosharper: Battle of Blossoms, you're a card shark in a deadly underground den using illegal cheats to scam your way to freedom. It's a roguelike twist on traditional Korean Hwatu that rewards you for breaking the rules.

Gameplay

You're not playing a fair game of cards here. You play as a 'sharp' in an underground gambling den, using a deck of over 100 illicit cheat skills to scam your way out of crushing debt. Instead of praying for a lucky draw, you're actively manipulating the board to force the hands you want. It's got that same 'break the rules to win' energy you find in Balatro, where the real joy comes from layering synergies to create absolutely broken scam builds. When a combo finally clicks and you cheat a massive hand into existence, it feels incredible.

The meta-progression is pretty standard roguelike stuff. You'll fight bosses and pay off your debts to unlock new junk that makes future runs easier. It doesn't reinvent the wheel on the progression side, but the core loop of manipulating Hwatu cards is distinct enough to keep you hooked. You'll spend most of your time experimenting with different cheat combinations to see just how much you can tilt the odds in your favor.

Keep in mind it's still in Early Access, so it's definitely got some rough edges. The UI feels clunky in spots, and if you've never touched Hwatu before, you're going to hit a learning curve before the cheating mechanics actually make sense. At $4.99, it's a cheap entry point for an indie title, and the price is fair given the amount of content, but don't expect a polished AAA experience. It's a bit unrefined, but the strategy is solid.

Verdict

I'd give it a 7.5/10. Grab this if you're bored of Slay the Spire clones and want a degenerate, strategic challenge, but skip it if you can't stand clunky Early Access UI.
