What is Backpack Dungeon?
Forget drafting units on a shared board. In Backpack Dungeon, your inventory is your deck, and where you place your loot determines if you live or die in this pixel-art roguelike.

Gameplay
You've probably played a dozen autobattlers where you just buy units and hope the RNG gods smile on you. Backpack Dungeon flips that script. Your inventory isn't just for storage; it's your actual combat core. You spend your time obsessing over a grid, fitting gear in and managing adjacency bonuses to create trigger chains. It's basically spatial Tetris where one wrong move means death, but a perfect layout lets you build a mana engine that heals you every loop.
It's a roguelike, so you'll die a lot while figuring out how the systems work. The combat is automated, but the strategy is all in the prep. You aren't fighting a meta like you do in TFT or Battlegrounds; you're solving a puzzle against the dungeon. With over 500 items and 75 monsters, there's plenty to chew on, and the different characters keep the runs fresh.
Just be warned: it's a small indie project. The polish isn't AAA, and some of the mechanics feel opaque until you've hit a wall a few times. It's a bit rough around the edges, but for $3.99, it's a steal. You're paying for the loop and the loot, not a cinematic experience. It's the perfect kind of game to run in the background while you're listening to a podcast.

8/10. Grab this if you love optimizing builds and spatial puzzles, but skip it if you need high-end polish or a competitive multiplayer scene. It's a cheap, punchy experience that rewards your obsession with the grid.
